MEMOIRS IN MOTION

Memoirs in Motion: A Yoga Writing Experience
Sunday, June 10, 6:30-8:30 pm
with Edvige Giunta & Charlotte Stone

Memoirs in Motion integrates yoga and memoir writing as practices that promote healing through self-awareness and mindfulness. In this workshop you will practice pranayama (breathing), meditation, and asanas (yoga poses) in connection with highly focused memoir-writing exercises. One modality opens a gateway to the other; ultimately, the two practices blend into one, as both memoir and yoga facilitate the encounter with memory and open our hearts to empathy and acceptance of ourselves and others.

About the Presenters:
Edvige Giunta has been teaching memoir writing for fifteen years at New Jersey City University, where she is Professor of English, as well as in many academic and non-academic settings in the United States and Italy. Her memoir-writing workshops make the exploration of memories, and their transformation into written language, safe, accessible, profoundly transformative, and healing.
Charlotte Chandler Stone is the founder and director of the Stone Center for Yoga & Health in Teaneck, NJ, where she offers yoga, stress management and wellness programs, and yoga teacher training. Her nurturing approach to yoga is tailored to meet the specific and varied needs and challenges of her students.
