STUDIO CLOSED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS, AS OF 3-15-2020

Dear Yoga Family,

I hope this e-mail finds you all feeling well and taking good care of yourselves.

Events and decision-making around coronovirus COVID-19 have been fluid, sometimes changing moment-to-moment. As much as we had hoped to keep the studio open in safe ways, we can no longer do so: this evening, Teaneck's Mayor Hameduddin issued a statement urging Teaneck's residents to self-quarantine. And so, that is what we will do.

We are temporarily closing the studio; all classes are cancelled effective immediately, until we are able to gather again.

These are stressful times, and yoga, calm breathing, and movement, are more valuable than ever ... which makes it all the more painful to not have the classes at this challenging time.

We are researching ways to use Zoom (an online platform) to offer online classes that you will be able to take in the comfort of your own home. This will take us a little while to organize, so please be patient as we set up ways to continue to practice together "virtually."

Private sessions using Skype, Facetime or Zoom will be available, and this may be another way we can all get through this time in ways that are safe and supportive.

I was happy to see so many of you finding the free Gentle Yoga for Stress Relief class that I live-streamed this past Thursday evening on Facebook! Many thanks to all of you who "liked" the live-stream and sent thank-you e-mails!

Being under self-quarantine can be lonely and isolating, and I hope that, within the next few days. we will have some online classes available to alleviate some of that loneliness.

We are a community, and we will get through this as a community. Let's be sensible by doing what we can to keep ourselves and our community healthy and safe. Be well, stay well, and please be in touch!

Heart to heart hugs to all of you!

TEACHING CHAIR & RESTORATIVE YOGA

STILL A FEW SPACES LEFT IN THIS SUNDAY'S MINI-TRAININGS:

DATE:        MARCH 19, 2017

TIME:        11 am - 2 pm  Teaching Chair Yoga
3 pm - 6 pm   Teaching Restorative Yoga

TUITION:  $110 for each segment; $180 if you register for both

TO REGISTER: Click on the MindBody link at the top right of the www.stoneyoga.com website. Click on Workshops / Advanced Trainings, find the training for which you would like to register, and sign up!

This mini-training is open to yoga teachers from all traditions, and yoga students wishing to deepen their practice and understanding of the wide-ranging ways we can practice yoga, whether for ourselves, or to share with others.

TEACHING CHAIR YOGA
I wish I could count how many students I have met over the years who thought they could not practice yoga because they couldn't get down onto a yoga mat (or up again). But they can do yoga ... because they can practice seated comfortably and safely in a chair.
In this intense mini-training, you will learn to teach foundational chair and chair-assisted yoga poses and fun sequences. The need for instructors who can teach chair yoga is increasing, with hospitals, nursing homes and senior centers seeking to offer the benefits of yoga to those who need a gentle chair-based practice.

TEACHING RESTORATIVE YOGA
Restorative Yoga is a deeply restful, stress-relieving, healing practice. I think of it as the "antidote to civilization" ... the answer to the stressful lives we all live.
This mini-training will provide you with a basic repertoire of Restorative Yoga poses and sequences you can offer to groups and private clients. It will also give you a gentle, calming practice you can use for your own self-care.

Both mini-trainings will be taught by Charlotte Chandler Stone, C-IAYT, E-RYT500, the founder & director of the Stone Center for Yoga & Health. Charlotte is an accredited Continuing Education Provider with the Yoga Alliance (YACEP), and a certified yoga therapist accredited with the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

I look forward to welcoming you and sharing these accessible practices!

YOGA TEACHER TRAINING ORIENTATION

SUNDAY FEB. 12, 7-8 PM

Please join me to learn about our 200 hour, Yoga Alliance-accredited teacher training, now in its 14th year!

Stone Yoga is an anatomically informed, breath-centered practice that allows each student to discover his / her own unique practice.  Whether you attend the gentlest classes, therapeutic classes for stress, chronic pain, or osteoporosis, or the strongest flow classes, each class will offer adaptations to help you practice safely and sensibly, with respect for your unique needs and interests.  We emphasize a non-competitive, contemplative approach to yoga that invites you on a journey of self-discovery and self-empowerment.

The teacher training is open to everyone. Some take the training to become yoga teachers; if that is your goal, we will help you become a skilled, confident teacher.  Others take the training to deepen their understanding and personal practice; the training will serve you well if this is your interest.

The training is also open to teachers from all other yoga teacher training traditions, and to teachers who wish to immerse themselves in a training that has a more anatomical, therapeutic orientation.
