STUDIO CLOSED SATURDAY, PROBABLY SUNDAY ...

My mom used to have a sign on her desk. It said, "Today isn't looking good for you. Tomorrow isn't looking too good either."  As I log on to write this "storm update," I'm reminded of that sign ... but these days, it fails to give me the chuckle it once did.

Power is slowly being restored to some parts of Teaneck, but sadly, the studio area is still without power, and we just don't know when the power will be on again.

Therefore, the studio remains closed Saturday (Nov. 3rd), and probably Sunday. The eternal optimist, I keep hoping that we will be able to open our doors on Sunday ... but the truth is, no one can predict when this will happen. The Township has announced that it could take several more days for power to be restored, and sadly, that includes our yoga studio.

You can call the studio answering service each morning for daily updates: 201.833.5955.

Please be patient with us as we all cope with the aftermath of the hurricane. Access to the internet is severely curtailed, so daily updates and e-mails may not be possible; we will do our best to keep you informed via the website "Updates" window, and through postings of class cancellations on our MindBody class management system (log on via www.stoneyoga.com).

In light of the devastation and personal tragedy so many in the NY/NJ area suffered, the studio closing is a small matter ... but I do miss it, and our yoga community!

This is a time for us to come together as a community. Let's be aware of our neighbors -- do they need food? a working fridge? a hot shower? some time in a warm, cozy home? someone to listen to them? Let's keep reaching out to help each other.

At this difficult time, let's continue to hold those in our hearts who have lost so much, and become involved in efforts to provide relief.

To the instructors, teacher trainees, and students whose family and friends have been affected terribly by the storm, our good wishes and prayers go out to you.

Missing all of you, and looking forward to seeing everyone again real soon,
Charlotte & the Stone Yoga family of teachers

STUDIO CLOSED THURS, FRI & BEYOND

While in some parts of Teaneck power has been restored, the area around the studio remains in the dark. The studio building is completely dark; we have no emergency lighting in hallway and stairwells, and it is very cold; we have no choice but to remain closed until we have power.

The Township has announced that we may be without power over the weekend, and possibly even into early next week. Therefore, the studio will be closed Thursday (11/1) and Friday (11/2), and probably Saturday and Sunday as well. The Sunday evening 11/4 Meditation Circle will in all likelihood have to be cancelled as well.

We simply don't have any way of knowing when power will be restored.

Since access to the internet, the Stone Yoga Updates blog, our ConstantContact e-mail service, and even the MindBody class scheduler is very limited, the best way to find out about studio closings is to CALL THE STUDIO APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR CLASS: 201.833.5955. We are leaving daily voice messages with information about class cancellations.

Certainly, not having our yoga classes is an inconvenience. But when we think about the many families who have sustained terrible losses and damages due to the hurricane, not having yoga is a minor problem, is it not? The families of some of our instructors and students have been hit hard, too. Let's hold these folks in our hearts, meditations and prayers. Let's practice yoga at home, or in friends' houses who have heat! Let's share this practice we so love with others, and support each other on and off the mat, in the ways that matter right now.

All of us at Stone Yoga eagerly look forward to getting back to the studio and to our yoga community, which we all miss very much.

Gentle hugs and wishes for warmth, community and healing,
Charlotte & the Stone Yoga family of teachers
